Top bar hive success

Anyone interested in visiting my top bar hives is more than welcome. South shore, Long Island and very happy with the easy and cost effectiveness of TBH.
Thanks,

Top bar hive, I've done it!!

If anyone is interested, I have a top bar hive \"up and buzzing\". All well and thriving for one month since purchase of my top bar nuc. I can answer any questions about using and being a top bar keeper, or at least try with my limited experience so far.

Keeping a top bar hive for the first time...

I live in SC and have 4 regular hives. I want to try my hand at keeping a TBH Spring 2012. I think I will feel closer to the bees and be able to observe them better. I like the idea of their making their comb. I am eager to learn from your forum. Thank you for your help!!

Top Bar Hive Meeting

1) When Sam Comfort gave his talk I talked briefly with a club member who said that he had top bar hives and he was willing to show them to us. I believe his name is Hendrik (sp?). It would be nice if he could contact me if he still wants to do that (or anyone else who has top bar hives with bees in it).

2) Everyone who is interested in meeting should contact me and I will find a time and place. I am thinking 2 meetings to discuss how to build and 1 show and tell meeting.

Glass or Plexi

Jorg: Great little booklet on top bars. Thanks for the link. Glass would be easier to clean, but plexi is lighter. If you have the ability to cut glass to size, I'd go with the glass.

Planning to build a top bar hive

Am I the first to post here? I am gearing up to build my own THB. My start point is this:
http://www.lulu.com/product/ebook/how-to-build-a-top-bar-hive/15321150

I am still pondering the a few questions:
Material: there is no 12x1 board, there is a 12x2, but that is really 11.5x1.5
Window: glass or plexi-glass
Entrance: in the middle or at (both) ends.
