President's Message for September 2008
Thursday, September 11, 2008
Hi everyone!
Good news: Our Club gained more new members again this month! Welcome Gina Rosenberg!
Jim and I thank you all for the surprise wedding celebration with cake, flowers, iced tea and coffee, gifts, and your warm wishes at the August meeting! We were overwhelmed and I was in happy tears as I guess you saw!
I hope everyone enjoyed Jim’s talk about how to make Creamed Honey and make money. We celebrated his 50th birthday on August 27th at a lovely bed and breakfast in upstate NY.
Next month’s meeting on Sunday, September 21 is a social gathering. It’s our Master Beekeeper Miguel Valentin’s annual Pig Roast in true Hispanic style, with live music, in Ronkonkoma. (See your newsletter for directions). Also note that Miguel wants us to come at 3 PM rather than 2:30.
Miguel asks that each family attending bring a side dish. I will also be making special fun name tags Miguel has requested. And we will have a few extra surprises.
Miguel has a new swimming pool so bring your swimsuit too. Or, as Miguel told me, we can swim in the nude while the pig roasts.
I’m looking forward to having tons of fun and hope you will join us!
Don’t forget the Library is now open and ready for you to look through all the great books, magazines, and videos your can borrow.
The Local Honey page is now open too. You can get a free listing to sell honey and other products/services to the public.
There is demand for honey for the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah) coming up September 29. The Jewish tradition is to eat honey on New Year’s Day to assure a sweet New Year. Take advantage of this opportunity!
