President's Message for May 2009

Hello everyone!

First, I wish to thank our member Eleanor Bizzoso for her excellent presentation on gift baskets from the honey bee hive. She is a wonderful and gifted speaker, and creatively talented. Also, thanks, Eleanor, for contributing a package of gift basket goodies for auction.

Second, I wish to thank all our new members who attended the meeting, and extend a warm welcome to our Club. Kimberly Oetting, Robert Czachor, amd thanks to the old members who paid their dues at the last meeting.

Third, I wish to thank Ray Lackey for handling the raffle and auction, and speaking about Spring management.

Fourth, thanks to all who contributed gift items for our raffle. We have more great stuff on reserve for the next meeting too!

Finally, I wish to thank you all for your confidence in me, electing me to another year as President of our club. Congratulations to all our newly elected or
re-elected officers:

Vice President: Moira Alexander
Corresponding Secretary: Jim Fischer
Recording Secretary: Marianne Sangesland
Membership and Newsletter Editor: Conni Still
Hospitality: Joan Mahoney
Treasurer: Harry Gaulke

Harry was not present, but I spoke to him after the meeting and he would like to continue as Treasurer, as he has served us well for many years. He is in good health and has not attended the last meetings because of having a new great-grandchild and also needed work around his house!

As President, I have endeavored to bring you a wonderful speaker or fun social event every month, and will do so for another year! Next month, look forward to the ultimate speaker, Chairman Jim Bobb of EAS! We really hope to have a full membership to welcome Jim Bobb here, we are so lucky to have him as a guest speaker. I hope all of you will make every effort to attend this important and informative and entertaining meeting.

And thanks to all who brought and prepared refreshments and contributed in any way! Our club appreciates everything you do!

I am sorry that my husband Jim and I needed to leave the meeting early. We would have loved to socialize with everyone. But we wished to visit one of my personal training clients, a Senior who had fallen at home alone and broken his shoulder. He is in LIJ Hospital for surgery. Coming from Manhattan, it was convenient for us to visit him on our way back to the city during the scheduled visiting hours.

I am seeking old photos from our bee club, maybe even back to its origination in 1949, as I prepare for our celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Club. Please let me know if you have photos to contribute.

Thanks!

All the best to everyone always,
Joanne Thomas Fischer
