President's Message for November 2009
Thursday, November 05, 2009
I congratulate everyone who won prizes at the Honey
Judging! I thank everyone who participated! And I
thank Ray Lackey for judging. It was quite amazing to
see him using his polariscope to painstakingly
evaluate the honey, and also carefully evaluate all
of the other entry categories.
I hope everyone enjoyed hearing from our speaker John Bernard, our Bee Inspector, and having your questions answered. What a nice guy!
Don’t forget to RSVP for our Holiday Party by Thanksgiving Day. Click here to RSVP.
I need to give the catering hall a head count by that date. And don’t forget to get a gift for our Santa’s Hive grab bag.
Also, at EAS, I got lots of wonderful gifts for us from the various bee supply vendors in honor of the 60th anniversary of our club, and you may be lucky to win one!
Welcome new members to the club: James Schoenster, Nick Djakov, Serge Rozenbaum, and Paul Bettencourt.
Below is a photo of Jim and I at a charity event at the Mystic Connecticut Aquarium and Institute for Exploration, dressed in costume as the Queen Bee and her Beekeeper. The Halloween event was to benefit their African Black-footed Penguins, which is why we are carrying stuffed toy penguins with bee bow ties to match our costumes. These penguins are an endangered species. We are part of their Penguin Parent Program! You can do it too! To help, visit searesearch.org!
