FROM THE EDITORS DESK: April

Well here I am again, back in computer mode with a new computer, hopefully not going to crash and burn like last month. I apologize to you all for that disaster, and hope we have smooth sailing for a few more years to come.
The weather has been so strange, the poor bees don’t know what to do. Joanne and Jim’s bees are flying all over the place and they put sugar feeders on them yesterday and gave us a chance to visit for a while. We are looking forward to getting our bees in a week or two, and starting over, yet again.
We want to wish Carissa Lackey a warm wish for a speedy recovery from her recent illness and surgery. Know that our thoughts and prayers have been with her and the whole Lackey family and that she will be back to her perky self very soon.
Have you eaten any Haagen Dazs Ice Cream lately? The package has this statement on it: “Help the honey bees at haagen dazs.com! Honey bees are disappearing and no one really knows why. Since almost 40% of our all-natural flavors use ingredients that benefit from honey bee pollination, we’ve decided to help by funding honeybee research.” What a great thing they are doing, they even have a shelf talker outside the freezer in the supermarket and the Vanilla Honey Bee cream is very delicious. I gained 5 pounds, but it was worth it!
We were recently informed of the passing of Kenneth King of East Patchogue. He was a long time beekeeper and member of our club in the early days. He passed away in November 2007 and we extend our sympathy to his family and friends. RIP
