Another rainy day, of course, my day off. No way to
work in the garden or on the bees. But at least I can
work on the newsletter and the membership list. I
received four e-mails from people interested in
becoming members from the new website. I will be
sending them the newsletter and hope to receive their
dues and meet them at the next meeting. Our club is
growing in leaps and bounds, and with all this new
young blood it certainly gives us old beekeepers and
exciting transfusion of encouragement that our hobby
is in great hands for the future.
We had a great day a few weeks ago with our grandson Adam at the Sweetbriar Nature Preserve in Smithtown. He enjoyed the lovely spring day and got to see the observation hive which is maintained by a member of our club. Adam was glad to see the bees really up close, since “Pop's” bees are off limits in our garden. When he gets a little bit older we hope he will take an interest in becoming a little beekeeper too.
