Long Island Beekeepers Club Monthly Meeting Minutes, June 21, 2009
Sweet Pines Apiary, Bohemia

• This meeting fell on Father’s Day and was an informal meeting, more of a celebration, held at Ray Lackey’s home and apiary.
  ◦ The President opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and handed out “American Hero Beekeeper’s hats” for all the drones.
  ◦ Several drones shared their funniest/strangest and sometimes most embarrassing moments in their beekeeping experience. Lots of good hearted laughs!
  ◦ There was lively discussion about the pros & cons of plastic frames and methods to encourage efficient drawout of comb from plastic frames.
  ◦ Great American, Italian, and Vegetarian Heros & salads were served as well as a delicious spread of desserts.
  ◦ The monthly raffle was held, with 7 winners!
  ◦ Ray Lackey gave tours of his apiary and grounds, including a peek inside his honey production barn.
